Dr. Jake Wood, DMD, MPH
Dentist Anesthesiologist
Professional Biography
Dr. Jake Wood is a dentist anesthesiologist dedicated to delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality anesthesia care in dental and outpatient surgical settings. His career reflects a long-standing commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, and expanding access to anesthesia services for patients who require specialized care.
Dr. Wood began his journey in dentistry while working as a pediatric dental assistant throughout his undergraduate education. This early experience fostered a deep understanding of patient-centered care, particularly for children and individuals who may experience anxiety or difficulty tolerating dental procedures.
He went on to attend the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health at A.T. Still University, where he completed a rigorous dual-degree program earning both a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and a Master of Public Health (MPH). His public health training strengthened his focus on improving healthcare access, patient outcomes, and systems-based approaches to safety and quality in clinical care.
Following dental school, Dr. Wood was accepted into the highly respected NYU Langone Health Dentist Anesthesiology Residency Program in Brooklyn, New York, where he completed three years of advanced hospital-based anesthesia training. During residency he gained extensive experience providing deep sedation and general anesthesia across a wide range of patient populations, including pediatric patients, medically complex individuals, and patients with special healthcare needs. In recognition of his leadership, clinical ability, and dedication to education, he was selected by faculty and peers to serve as Chief Resident.
During residency, Dr. Wood continued to expand his expertise completing a year of clinical practice providing mobile dental anesthesia services and anesthesia care in a surgical center specializing in patients with special needs. This experience further strengthened his proficiency in delivering anesthesia in diverse clinical environments while maintaining the highest standards of monitoring, safety, and patient comfort.
Dr. Wood is passionate about advancing safe anesthesia practices in dental care and ensuring that patients who would otherwise struggle to receive treatment can do so comfortably and safely. His clinical philosophy centers on meticulous preparation, vigilant monitoring, and compassionate patient care.
Outside of his professional work, Dr. Wood is a devoted husband and proud father of four sons and one daughter. His family is a central source of motivation in his commitment to building a practice that prioritizes integrity, service, and excellence in patient care.
